Well over decade ago a Mommy & a very little human arrived at our yard wanting to come for livery with their very young warmblood … little Farnham is designed & caters for small people and small horses, competitive and non, but we are really only designed for competitive juniors, young riders and adults … fast forward to 2024 and this motivated little girl, is now a beautiful, intelligent young woman who exudes calm and composure (and a load of beauty) and rides beautifully.Hopefully this story motivates young and old 🤍‘I’ve had my little mare for a little over a decade and it has been a very long journey. I should never have ended up with her (a nine year old on a spicy 6 year old warm blood mare was a combination doomed from the start 😂). There were hundreds of moments where all I wanted to do was give up. When I had my big fall and broke my arm my confidence was shattered and I couldn’t pick myself back up from it. So I took her out of the Show Jumping ring for two years and did some Dressage. Going right back to the beginning and working on the basics made it so much easier when I eventually returned to Farnham to start jumping again. I had many falls and many disappointing shows and it has not been easy by any stretch of the imagination but at the end of the day making it work with her has taught me more than just how to ride but how to get through life. For a large portion of this decade I let my thoughts control my riding. It’s only in the last year that I’ve learnt how important it is to be in the right headspace. No matter how much my heart was in it, I could not get anywhere until I got my mind in the right space.Rosie has pushed me not only as a rider but as a person.
